MVA lead cost by lead type, 2026

The price per lead tells you little on its own. The column that matters is cost per signed case: price divided by the share of leads that sign.

How to check an MVA lead quote

  1. Name the product.“Lead” covers five different things, from a 30-day-old record sold to six firms to a client who has already signed. Get the vendor to say which one in writing.
  2. Place the price in its band.Under the band is the bigger warning sign. Exclusive supply does not clear at shared prices, so a cheap “exclusive” lead is usually not exclusive.
  3. Convert to cost per signed case. Divide the price by your realistic sign rate. If you do not know yours, use the bands above, then see what an intake rewrite did to one firm’s rate.
  4. Check the terms behind the price. Exclusivity, credits for off-criteria leads, and delivery speed move cost per case more than a $50 discount does.

Before you buy MVA leads: what a fair price leaves out

A quote inside the range is a starting point, not a verdict. Three things decide whether the leads pay for themselves.

FAQ

MVA lead cost questions

How much do MVA leads cost in 2026?
Shared MVA leads cost $40–$90 each and exclusive leads $585–$1,105, set per state. Pay-per-call runs $80–$250 per qualified call, aged leads $10–$40, and signed standard-auto retainers $2,500–$4,800 per case.
Is a cheaper MVA lead a better deal?
Not necessarily. A $65 shared lead signing at 3–6% costs $1,083–$2,167 per signed case. A $585 exclusive lead signing at 10–15% costs $3,900–$5,850. Compare cost per signed case, then add the intake hours each type eats: shared leads mean racing three to eight other firms to the phone.
What does it mean if a quote is below the market range?
For exclusive leads, a price under the rate-card floor usually means the lead is shared, resold after a window, or bought from an aggregator. For shared leads, it usually means the record is aged. Ask for the delivery timestamp and the exclusivity clause in writing before you buy.
How many MVA leads do I need to sign one case?
Divide 1 by your sign rate. At the 10–15% typical for exclusive standard-auto leads that is 7–10 leads per signed case. Shared leads need 17–34.
Why does MVA lead cost vary by state?
Exclusive lead prices follow what it costs to generate a real-time accident inquiry in that market: ad click prices, Spanish-language demand, and how many firms compete for the same claimants. Arizona, Georgia, Nevada and Connecticut sit at the top of our rate card; most states sit at the floor.
Where do the calculator's numbers come from?
Exclusive prices are our published rate card for all 50 states and DC. Shared prices and sign rates are from our 2026 MVA Lead Cost Report. Pay-per-call and aged bands are the ranges published on our pay-per-call and aged-lead guides, and retainer prices are other vendors' published figures. Cost per signed case is price divided by sign rate.
